Homemade Groceries: Make Your Own Chili Seasoning

Here at Healthy Homestead Living, we love chili.  It falls into that category of comfort food and there’s nothing better at the end of a long day than to sit down to dinner with a steaming bowl of delicious chili goodness.  True Homestead chili is made with home-grown beef, garden canned tomatoes, and our special homemade chili seasoning.  With no preservatives, anti-caking agents, sugar, or chemical additives, our chili seasoning is made with herbs and flavors that makes truly remarkable chili.  Great on eggs and in other recipes, give this recipe a try.  We know you’ll love it!

Chili Seasoning

Recipe type: Seasoning
  • ½ cup Chili Powder
  • ¼ cup Garlic Powder
  • 3 T. Onion Powder
  • ¼ cup Oregano
  • ¼ cup Cumin
  • 2 T. Smoked Paprika
  • 1-2 T. Thyme
  1. Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight jar. We like to double and triple the batch when we make ours. Makes a great gift idea for friends and family, too!
  2. /4 cup of mixture is equivalent to one commercial chili seasoning packet.
